Art Education | Educación del arte

To me, a successful education is one that teaches students how to think, rather than what to think. Art is both a lens for viewing the world and an extended vocabulary for self- expression. It gives form to ideas and stimulates the intellect. This practice of looking deeply, analyzing what you see and asking big questions is at the core of deep and meaningful learning. Through art education students gain the ability to think independently and solve problems creatively. These are skills that are essential in creating individuals that are successful within the classroom and beyond.

Poster used for presenting a curriculum unit where students design an ideal city, construct a model and use stop animation to bring their city to life. This is a modified version of a course I co-taught at ¡CityArts!.

Poster used for presenting a curriculum unit where students design a new playground/outdoor classroom for their school through mapping, drawing and the construction of models.

This poster was created as documentation of a Digital Media lesson I taught at Hope High School. Each silhouette was created by a student as part of a digital self portrait.
